GENKI SUSHI CAMBODIA·TUESDAY, JULY 24, 2018· The story of Genki Sushi began with the vision of a 24-year-old Japanese sushi chef, Fumio Saito. Saito dreamed of creating a modern sushi restaurant with an innovative feature known as a ‘kaiten’ (literally translated as ‘revolving’). In 1968, he created the concept of ‘kaiten sushi’ and pioneered the use of a revolving conveyor belt to serve sushi, integrating serving traditional sushi with modern technology. The novel concept caught on fast in Japan and appealed to the masses. Since its humble beginnings, Genki Sushi has grown into a well-known brand with over 300 outlets globally. Cambodia joined the list of countries where Genki Sushi is present. Apart from Japan, there are outlets in China, Hong Kong, Indonesia, Singapore, Malaysia, the Philippines, Thailand, Australia, Kuwait, the United States, and currently 2 stores in Cambodia.
