Papaya Salad and 5 Places to Find Them
Another streetfood-kind, which is already very famous among Cambodian. Known as “Bok La Hong” in Khmer, It’s also the easiest food to find. In the recent years, more and more Papaya Salad street vendors keep increasing from day-to-day and here we are introducing you to the 5 places where you can taste the Papaya Salad (just in case you haven’t heard of them).

Somphors Bok La Hong
A very simple restaurant, where’s known for its taste “Somphors Bok La Hong”, has been around for business for years already. As a person who enjoys eating Street food, I’d vote for Somphors Bok La Hong to be the first place to go, when you think of Papaya Salad due to its reasonable price and good quality for a plate of papaya salad.
Location: Somphors Bok La Hong, # 358, St.45, Phnom Penh
Price: 5000R
-
Tbal Khmer
The second choice for Papaya Salad would be this place. Though, you may find no different in terms of the taste in Papaya Salad, there’s got to be something else which hooks you to a place. “Tbal Khmer” is also another recommended place for you to go.
Location: Tbal Khmer, 432 St. (63), Behind Toul Tom Pong Pagoda, Phnom Penh
Price: 5000R
-
Bok Kon Tout
This place serves variety of shredded food from Papaya Salad to Shredded Corn. It’s unbelievable to see their menu, and I wish I could show you the capture of it but I missed it during my visit. But keep in mind that, not all the dish comes with unique names are delicious, however; I’d get this place passed for their creativity.
Location: Bok Kon Tout, Street 380, Beung Keng Korng I, Phnom Penh
Price: 8000R
-
Tbal Heul Bangkok
You see their name, you know that it’s gonna be spicy isn’t it? True that, but in either ways, you probably get to taste other than the local Papaya Salad you’ve known. But to a person who doesn’t eat spicy like me, it almost makes no different.
Location: Tbal Heul Bangkok, Behind Mean Huor Hotel, No. Sangkat Phsar Depo 3 Khan, No.16AE0, St. 112
Price: 5000R

Romdoul Bok La Hong
The dressing of their Papaya Salad is definitely Thai. Very Thai-ish. I would say they have the different taste out of all the restaurants mentioned above. It’s a little plain, and there’s almost no fish sauce on it which makes it the driest papaya salad I’ve ever tasted.
Location: Romdoul Bok La Hong, St. 338, Behind Sou Sou Olympic
Price: 10000R
