Tired of the same old fried rice? Spice things up with this Kimchi Fried Rice!
Watching K-drama, seeing the characters enjoy some Kimchi Fried Rice, and suddenly craving some for yourself? CookBuzz has got you this easy, quick, and inexpensive recipe, guaranteed to hit the spot.
Also for those who don't like the smell of Kimchi, this recipe is highly recommended! Because after it's been fried, the kimchi loses its pungent smell but stays sour and spicy. If you love kimchi though, remember to keep some fresh kimchi aside to eat along with the fried rice.
Ingredients:
Green onions (5 Stems)
Pork belly (200 grams)
Kimchi (200 grams)
White rice (1 bowl)
White sugar (1 tablespoon)
Soy sauce (1 tablespoon)
Oyster sauce (1 tablespoon)
MSG (a pinch)
Chili flakes (1 tablespoon)
Cooking oil (1 tablespoon)
Dried Seaweed (1 tablespoon)
Egg (1 egg)
White sesame seeds (for garnish)
Method:
1. Let's start off by preparing your ingredients! Slice off the green onion heads and slice them into small pieces before putting them aside. Slice the pork belly into thin pieces. Use scissors to cut up the kimchi into small slices. If you are using fresh rice, put it into the refrigerator for it to harden up. If you are using leftover rice, you are good to go.
2. Now, let’s mix out the ingredients! Put kimchi into a bowl then add white sugar, soy sauce, oyster sauce, MSG, and chili flakes. After that, mix them all together.
3. Moving on to frying our rice! Heat your pan on a stove to medium heat. Then add oil when the pan gets hot. Next, add in your chopped green onion heads. And then, stir them all together!
4. Add in the pork belly and stir-fry until the pork becomes crispy.
5. Add the kimchi that has been mixed well into the pan. Stir-fry with the pork belly until everything is fully mixed.
6. Add white rice then fry until it is well mixed.
7. Move the fried rice onto the plate.
8. As for frying the egg, you can fry it however you like. But if you want it sunny side up and perfectly round, you can follow our tips. Make sure the pan is hot, crack the egg, and then use a spoon to shape and trim the egg into a circle.
9. For a great look, top the fried rice with the egg and garnish with dried seaweed, leftover green onions, and white sesame seeds. You can eat the Kimchi Fried Rice on its own or wrap it with some dried seaweed and kimchi for even more vivid flavors.
And there you have it! Easy, affordable, and tasty - this Kimchi Fried Rice is perfect for everyone. Don’t forget to try it at home!
