#1 Seolleongtang (Ox bone soup)
Seolleongtang is an incredibly popular traditional soup in Korea. The soup is undeniably delicious since it has been boiled hours and hours with ox bones (sometimes an oxtail). Naengmyeon is a cold Korean noodle dish. Its mains and most popular variations are Bibim-naengmyeon (Spicy/sour kimchi flavored) and Mul-naengmyeon (plain broth). It commonly topped with thin slices of cucumber, Korean pears and a hard-boiled egg over long and chewy noodles. The noodle often made from buckwheat and potatoes. #3 Sundubu-jjigae (Soft tofu stew)
Served in a flaming-hot stone bowl (Earthenware pot), Sundubu-jjigae is a spicy Korean tofu stew. It consists of soft and fresh tofu, vegetables, mushroom, seafood, beef or pork, and of course gochujang (chili paste). Traditionally, a raw egg is added to complete the dish and for additional flavor but this is optional. This stew is best when enjoyed with steamed rice and side dishes (Banchan). #4 Gejang (Raw fermented crab)
Korean is known for its fermented dishes and one of them is Gejang, a raw marinated crab. It originally has only one version ‘’Ganjang Gejang’’, refers to crab marinated in soy sauce. The latter version of the dish is ‘’Yangnyeom Gejang’’ which is seasoned crab marinated in spicy sauce and chili powder. Many people tend to love female crabs more as they contain a lot of roe and fatty tomalley. Like its nickname ‘’The rice thief’’, Gejang is a dish that can be eaten without rice!
