Namaste: Heading into A New Decade Sitting Strong on #1 Spot of TripAdvisor List
Happy and Prosperous New Year! Ready to ring in the new year? Head to Namaste India Restaurant to celebrate in style.
Stand out among bars and restaurants on St. 308, Namaste India Restaurant is known for the best Indian food in Phnom Penh. The diversity of their chef that are selected very carefully from different regions just to gives us a wide variety of amazing dishes to choose from North, South Indian, coastal and lavish Mughlai dishes. Namaste India Restaurant was established in 2016 and to give all foodies a taste that will linger in your memories for a long time, it keeps improving both service and dishes. Now it is heading into a brand-new decade sitting firmly on the #1 spot of highest rated restaurants on TripAdvisor.
Earlier this year, FoodBuzz had the pleasure to publish a review article on the newer, second branch of Namaste India Restaurant located in the busy Boeung Keng Kong area, and today – we will show you the original location of Namaste India Restaurant bears that bear a remarkable resemblance to the BKK branch so fans and frequent diners of Namaste would recognize it instantly.
Without further ado, why don’t we just jump into the food?
For starters, per chef’s recommendation Chicken Tikka, Seekh Chicken Gilafi and Paneer Tikka Multani were our picks for the day. Boneless and marinated in spicy yogurt batter and roasted in the tandoor, Chicken Tikka is served hanging on a skewer and if it already looks tender to the eyes, trust us it is even more tender and flavorful to taste and with a little more spike in flavors added thanks to the mint sauce, this dish is not one to miss.
Seekh Chicken Gilafi are these juicy-looking minced chicken sticks that have quite a strong spice to these but absolutely addictive and also go very well with the mint sauce. The last starter, Paneer Tikka Multani, is this generous serving of triangular pieces of cottage cheese infused with herbs and spices wrapped in multi-flour and glazed golden in tandoor. A perfect option for anyone looking for a vegetarian Tandoor-roasted appetizer.
Moving onto to main courses: we (greedily) opted for 6 dishes of Biryani rice with Lamb, Mix Veg Korma, Mushroom Lipta, Butter Chicken, Plain Naan, and Garlic Naan.
This stunningly colorful bowl of Biryani rice is served with a small bowl of yogurt that you can mix with the rice to bring out a fun and different flavor to the dish or you can opt not to. And of course, the lamb bites are perfectly tender and to-die-for and have we mentioned how aromatic the Biryani rice smells? Yum!
We have tried all sorts of Naan bread but nothing could ever come close to the delectable Garlic Naan at Namaste that literally elevates the taste of any given curry and not only that, the Naan bread still tastes amazing, even on its own.
Our favorite curry of the night was none other than the Butter Chicken which is a thin gravy curry with boneless pieces of tandoori chicken. This curry is a staple and well-loved dish even among frequent eaters of Indian cuisine and those who are just starting for a reason thank its overall delectable flavors, tender chicken bites, light gravy and just a perfect balance of spices and ingredients that aren’t too overwhelming. FoodBuzz totally recommends this for any readers who haven’t tried Indian food but are interested in trying!
Another type of curry that you might wanna try is the thick gravy type and we had the pleasure of trying two of this kind: Mix Veg Korma which is, true to its name, a curry of mixed vegetables such as cauliflower, lentil and more and Mushroom Lipta of mushroom and bell pepper that are generally stronger in flavors compared to the aforementioned type but is a good alternative for those liking more spices and preferring vegetarian version.
