The health benefits of these 5 Cambodian seasonal fruits
Cambodia has so many different types of fruits available for every season and month. You would never get bored of the many varieties. Since it is May now, let get to know the fruit that is available from May to July and their health benefit.
1. Mango
Mango season is here everyone! Either ripen or still fresh green from the tree is an absolute delight to munch away. Get your wallet and order some right now as the fruit is packed with nutrients and vitamins. It is high in antioxidants and will boost your immunity. If you want to improve your skin, mango is a must since it contains lots of vitamins A & C that prevent sagging, wrinkle and provide protection from the sun! You can add mango to many dishes like add in the smoothie, desserts, ice cream, add in the salad, dried it, or just simply eat it with rice.
2. Durian
People either love or hate durian because of its unique sweet or rotten smell. The most surprising one of all is that eating durian can help you sleep better and make you happier since the fruit contains the amino acid tryptophan which increases serotonin and melatonin. Lychee is my favorite fruit on this list. This red-looking spiky fruit is so juicy, so sweet, and soft. I could eat a whole bag of it in one sitting. This fruit is so versatile. You can eat it as it is, put it in a salad, dried it, juice it, turn it into a sorbet and make canned fruit out of it. Lychee is your best friend if you want to diet as it boosts your metabolism and digestive system. It is rich in Vitamin B, C, and antioxidant that prevents aging. It is highly recommended not to miss lychee during its season everyone!
4. Rambutan
Probably the weirdest looking one out of the bunch as it looks like a hairy fruit. A well-known tropical fruit that is native to Southeast Asia, Rambutan has a lot of healing properties. It cures small ailments like dry lips and more. A great skin fruit is packed with vitamin C, Vitamin A to rejuvenate your skin to prevent dry skin. It is especially recommended for pregnant ladies to consume it as it improves your eyes, cleanses the kidney, and an immunity booster.
5. Mangosteen
Mangosteen is a very cute-looking fruit. It is round, has a dark purple rind, and inside is soft, sweet, and sour fruits. The fruit is high in antioxidants and has anti-inflammatory properties that reduce the risk of cancer, heart disease, and diabetes. Unsurprisingly, mangosteen is great for weight loss by boosting metabolism. Like many other, it is good for you skin, immune system and digestive health.
