The danger of Methanol toxicity!

A clear liquid with the chemical formula (CH3OH) called Methanol or wood alcohol is normally used as antifreeze, solvent, fuel, and denaturant for ethanol.  Methanol or methyl alcohol has been reported as toxic to humans, easily absorbed by ingestion and inhalation, and more slowly by skin exposure. Due to the current news in Kandal province, 13 rice wine sellers and rice wine producers living in Lvea Em district’s Sarikakeo commune have been charged over and jailed for methanol poisoning deaths. From consuming their methanol-laced wine, 12 people have died and the other 20 victims have become ill.  Deserving reproach, they each face between two and five years in jail and a fine of between $1,000 and $2,500.
