Due to the current news in Kandal province, 13 rice wine sellers and rice wine producers living in Lvea Em district’s Sarikakeo commune have been charged over and jailed for methanol poisoning deaths. From consuming their methanol-laced wine, 12 people have died and the other 20 victims have become ill.  Deserving reproach, they each face between two and five years in jail and a fine of between $1,000 and $2,500.
