Slaprea, Cambodia’s Biggest Food Festival, is set to take place on May 19, 20, 21, 2023, at the National Olympic Stadium with an expected 100,000 festival-goers eager to sample delectable dishes from all over the world and join in on exciting activities and entertainment. 

A heaven for foodies, the festival has also been a staunch advocate for health and food safety whilst minimizing environmental impact. Slaprea’s aim this year goes beyond the norm and will focus on waste management and sustainable consumption as part of  their Zero-Waste Journey.

“We’re pushing to innovate the industry and show people that festivals of our size can be run sustainably while still giving festival goers a fun experience” says Sonyta Pul, co-manager of Slaprea 2023. “The zero-waste goal is a journey worth taking for the future of our country and planet.”

The festival aims to bring more awareness to mindful consumption for both vendors and festival goers, and will be running activities on and off stage that help promote an achievable sustainable lifestyle.  

“We like to think of ourselves as ‘imperfect environmentalists,’ we don’t force 100% sustainability because we want the sustainable lifestyle to be something that is realistic and attainable, that people can easily do bit by bit in their daily lives,” says Seavleng Cheng, Vendor Coordination lead.
