Restaurant Le Royal Unveils a New Modern Khmer Set Menu, Showcasing its Time-Honored Khmer Gastronomy

PHNOM PENH, Cambodia (June 3, 2024) —Restaurant Le Royal, the prestigious Khmer fine dining destination, had officially debuted at the legendary Raffles Hotel Le Royal, a landmark in the Cambodian capital for more than 90 years.

The menu at the restaurant features a blend of authentic Royal Khmer fare and innovative Khmer cuisine. 

The new modern makes of classic Traditional Khmer menu features SPICY SALMON SALAD (Marinated salmon with sweet chili sauce, lime, fresh herbs Inspired by “bok lahong cheamouy trei”); KHMER FISH CONSOMME’ (Mushroom, jackfruit, pork belly, fish, pumpkin, coconut milk. Inspired by Somlor kor ko sach chhrouk jer mouy trey); OPEN TAKEO RIVER LOBSTER RAVIOLI (Baby bok choy, green curry sauce, Inspired by bangkong kan); OVEN-ROASTED LAMB LOIN (Wrapped in crusted pepper, smoked corn mash, honey & oyster sauce, green asparagus  Inspired by “cheam dot tuek khmom” ); and KHMER CRANACHAN  (Fresh mango purée, Kampot pepper mousse, crumble, Inspired by “nom svay koevchin”).

This time Raffles Hotel Le Royal and The Gallerist are pleased to exhibit artworks from the artists, allowing greater visibility to the artists of the Kingdom as well as easier access to hotel guests to contemporary artworks exploration. 

The first artist to launch the season is Stan, presenting his latest artworks exhibition.

From June onwards, both the New Modern Khmer Menu and Stan artworks will be on display for a total of 3 months. 

“Restaurant Le Royal offers an extraordinary dining experience with Royal Khmer recipes that have been handed down to Raffles Hotel Le Royal by decree from the royal palace. It’s an authentic, distinctive and truly memorable place,” said Executive Chef Martin Becquart.

Regarded as one of Cambodia’s finest restaurants, Restaurant Le Royal operates from Tuesday to Sunday (closed on Mondays) for dinner only from 6:30pm onward. A piano soloist serenades diners with traditional Cambodian classics from the golden era, and a regular sabrage ceremony is also featured.

Raffles Hotel Le Royal originally opened in 1929. The hotel features 175 rooms and suites that underwent a full refurbishment as part of a meticulous one-year restoration project in 2019.
