Yakiniku-rokko: Authentic Yakiniku Restaurant Originally from Japan You May Be Missing Out On

What is Yakiniku? Yakiniku translates to “Grilled Meat” in Japanese or basically barbecue. We believe for all our BBQ fanatics out there; you are already aware of what sets Yakiniku apart from other grilled meats cuisine because everything about Japanese food always screams exquisite and delicate and there’s no difference when it comes to Yakiniku.

Today we are taking you to Yakiniku-rokko which is one of the very few authentic Yakiniku restaurants in the kingdom (source). Yakiniku-rokko is currently in its 5th year of operation in Cambodia and we simply cannot talk about Yakiniku without the mention of said restaurant.

Yakiniku-rokko serves both lunch and dinner and diners are given two options: Buffet style or A La Carte and this is the very first point we adore about this restaurant: having the option to choose between eating moderately and spending a decent amount or eating to your heart’s content and spending just a little bit more.

In terms of meat quality, there is just one word: Superb even though the variety isn’t as many as what you might be used to but every plate of meat you are served is fresh and prepared to perfection, from the cut of the meat to the seasoning.

The sizzling sound of the meat on the grill was just purely therapeutic and with every bite of the meat, we could taste the freshness and a perfect balance of the seasoning and couple with a tall glass of icy cold beer, “heavenly” wasn’t an overstatement at all and we couldn’t pick our favorites among all the beef, pork, chicken and fish we had the pleasure of tasting because they were all equally delectable.

Do you think Japanese food pairings were limited only to green tea? Then, you need to think again! When paired with the appropriate food item, the taste of beer is enhanced. Yakiniku served with beer is one such pairing that works well with most people. So, when you get the chance to enjoy Yakiniku, you won’t think twice of the drink to pair with – you would definitely call out for Asahi Super Dry which is Japan’s No.1 beer.

Whereas the location might be a little small, this has to be one of our best Yakiniku experiences we have ever had and we recommend giving Yakiniku-rokko a try if you are seeking for some good BBQ but beware, because it won’t be the last time you’re going there for sure!
