Pchum Ben Day represents a significant annual national festival observed by Cambodians. Additionally, it's essential to remember traditional desserts like Nom Ansorm, Nom Korm, and Nom Bot, which have been enjoyed from the time before the Angkorian period to the present day. These desserts carry a profound meaning and historical origin that continue to be relevant to us even now.

"According to Samdech Sang Chuon Nath's dictionary, "Ansorm" is described as a cake or dessert crafted from sour rice, shaped round with a flat end, stuffed with fresh leaves, and either cooked or roasted.

On the other hand, "Nom Korm" is the name of a cake or dessert resembling a backbone. It is composed of sourdough flour, with a filling of coconut or soybean core, and sugar, all enclosed in leaves and steamed.

According to some sources, this sweet treat had been in existence prior to the rule of King Jayavarman II, who, being a Brahmin, incorporated various religious elements, including this dessert, into his practices. Within Brahmanism, Nom Ansorm is symbolic of Iso's phallus, whereas Nom Korm symbolizes the vagina of Uma, Iso's consort. As a result, it is a common practice to find Nom Ansorm and Nom Korm served together, reflecting these symbolic associations.
