On December 1, 2022, Raffles Hotel Le Royal celebrated their annual Christmas Tree Lighting Ceremony with a spectacular Nordmann Firs specially brought in all the way from Denmark. Our FoodBuzz team was delighted to be able to join the event and we want to share with you all the fun that took place there.

Upon entering the Grand Lobby, we immediately spot the iconic Nordmann Firs, standing right at the center of the room. They were decked out in blue ribbons and brilliant ornaments of gold and silver. When the trees are lit up, they shine so beautifully. 

The celebrations begin with performances from a choir singing well-known corals like Jingle Bells, Deck the Halls, and more. Then we were graced with some lovely ballet performances. And finally, a choir of students and singers performed carols with their sweet singing voices. 

Throughout the evening, the hotel staff served a variety of drinks including apple juice, orange juice, coke, as well as red wine, white wine, cocktails like Aperol Spritz and more. 

It doesn’t end here! The hotel also prepared finger food for guests. The first four serving includes sushi and canapés like bread with salty cheese, sweet jam, and a bitter herb on top. Another type was bread with some savory ham. Most unique of all were the waffles topped with raw salmon and cheese.

 

Afterwards, more food was served like fried rice balls with crispy exterior and a soft filling. There were sandwiches made from green-colored slices of bread with chicken meat in between, fish tart crusts, and duck meat with arugula and a vinaigrette dressing served on spoons. 

We also got to see a giant gingerbread house that smelled so amazing and aromatic, it makes you want to take a bite. 

If you want to experience something just as magical at Raffles Hotel Le Royal, the hotel has prepared more events for this December 2022. 

To celebrate Christmas, there are many events such as the Festive High Tea & Carols and Gingerbread Making Class that will be hosted on the 4th, 11th, 18th, and 25th. At Restaurant Le Royal, there will be a five-course seafood feast on the 24th and a special lunch on the 25th. As for Le Phnom 1929, there will be a Christmas Buffet on the 24th and a four-course lunch prepared by executive chef Martin on the 25th. 

You don’t have to go far for New Year’s, just countdown at Elephant Bar with the Saint-Tropez White Party and Oyster and Champagne Night. There will also be a buffet at Le Phnom 1929 and a Sturia Caviar Dinner at Restaurant Le Royal.

You can spend the first day of 2023 with breakfast at Le Phnom 1929 and end the day with dinner there as well.
