One of the must-try Cambodian style porridge spots in town!

Whenever I am feeling under the weather, one of the food that I crave is Khmer Style porridge with chicken meat. It is my favorite comfort food that warms my soul and stomach.

There is a porridge stand at the west side of the Russian Market that sells mouth-watering Khmer-style porridge at an affordable price. I would often go there with my friends and family to have a bowl of warm porridge with a fried dough stick.

There are two sizes of bowls that you can order the regular size and the big size. The porridge is very fragrant, I smelled ginger, chive, the fried garlic, and the irresistible smell of the meaty porridge. My go-to favorite is the porridge chicken with Kuy Teav and fried dough stick. Some of the condiments that I would add are soybean paste, chili paste, a tiny bit of sugar, and fish sauce.

Once I mixed all of the condiments together, I get a filling porridge that just simply a perfect light meal for me. The crunchy texture of the beansprout and ginger complement well with the soft texture of the porridge and meat. The fried dough stick soaks in the porridge broth so good. The price is affordable, 1 regular size bowl is 6000 riels and the big bowl is 8000 riels that are packed with meat and kuy teav.

It might not be the best Khmer-style porridge in the country, but for me it simply perfect. It is a hidden gem as well. Though it is a bit ashamed that I didn’t get to go there as much as I want due to COVID. I couldn’t recommend it enough to anyone who wants to try.
