Chinese food has become one of the most popular choices for Cambodians in the last few years. Malatang is a common street food in China and there are just a few well-known places to get it here in Phnom Penh, one of them being Ming Yang Malatang.
Ming Yang Malatang is a Malatang spot located in the Toul Kork area. Here, you get to scoop each ingredient yourself and give it to the attending staff to weigh it. There are a wide variety of meat, veggies and toppings to choose from which is very nice and convenient.
There are two ways to make Malatang here. One is with soup and another is stir-fried. The stir-fried Malatang is very fragrant and flavorful. Due to the Sichuan peppers, I instantly get the numbing sensation on my tongue as soon as I take a bite.
On the other hand, the Malatang soup is less fragrant, tastes almost like a normal soup except that it is a bit spicy. I personally prefer the soup one since it doesn’t give off the numbing sensation which I’m not really fond of.
A great place to try out! Ambiance offers traditional Chinese vibes and service has a gap to be improved!
