End of 2019 we went to Matcha Venture - Tea & Dessert where there is a matcha spot hidden in an apartment building (Ptas Tauch Residence) in the heart of Phnom Penh. This place claims to serve authentic matcha that are grown in Uji, Kyoto of Japan, up till now they still manage to maintain the quality of each drink perfectly.  

Entering the place, it feels very nice and cozy. There are several tables to accommodate all matcha lovers. Upstairs, a quiet studying-slash-working space is found​​ where everyone gets to enjoy themselves in some peacefulness, away from all the hustle. 

There are a wide variety of matcha drinks, both cold and hot. Matcha Slushie is topped with a silky-smooth scoop of matcha ice-cream, melts down eventually, adding a heavenly creamy texture to the entire fragrant matcha glass. Milky Matcha  as the name suggested is made with fresh milk with a bit of condensed milk to give a hint of delightful sweetness to the aromatic glass of matcha which you can opt for if you don’t want an ice-cream scoop in your drink.

If you like the orginal taste of matcha, do consider getting a warm glass of Pure Matcha. Served in a Japanese traditional ceramic glass is packed with umami, each sip guarantees you a whole journey of earthiness for your tastebuds. 

Genmaicharamisu is a genmaicha drink that is topped with a thick layer of home-made Tiramisu cream with grains of Genmai (Toasted Japanese  Rice). This drink has more of a fragrance of toasted rice than matcha. Hojicha Soda, on the other hand, has a sour taste with an aftertaste of earthiness, making it a very refreshing drink to brighten up a hot sunny day. 

Matcha Venture - Tea & Dessert also serves several kinds of desserts such as Soft Matcha Cookies and Almond Houjicha Brownies that taste just as heavenly as their drinks!
