Kungfu Kitchen: An Affordable Chinese Hot Pot Under $6 Per Set

Kungfu Kitchen has just opened its business since the beginning of this year, serving delectable Chinese cuisine. Situating in the bustling BKK area, the restaurant resides in a small and modest-looking building. Once you enter, you are welcome with a scene of chefs working around the open-air kitchen crafting their masterpieces for their customers.

After you are seated, you will serve a glass of water, and the menu that is a gesture of warm welcome from the restaurant. The menu elaborates with 6 choices of hot pot set and 5 flavors you can choose from according to your personal preference as well as rice set, noodle set, side dish, and drinks.

We ordered Sichuan Spicy Soup with Chicken Hot Pot set, Mapo Tofu set, and KungFu Sweet and Sour Chicken. We patiently waited for quite a while as all the food was all freshly handmade from scratch, especially KungFu Sweet and Sour chicken that was needed to cook 3 times to give that flavorful crispy sweet and sour coating on the outside with succulent and tender on the inside. The KungFu Sweet and Sour Chicken and Mapo Tofu had tasted divine served with plain white rice and 3 types of side dishes such as fried egg, pickled cucumber, and roasted peanuts.

The Chicken Hot Pot set arrived soon after, which contained a bowl of vegetables, and a serving of noodles and chicken meat. Once the soup boiled, you could smell the spices emitting from the Sichuan Flavor Soup, and it was ready to dip the ingredients. The soup was good and not spicy as we expected (we have high spice tolerance!), but it did give you that numbing effect on your tongues caused by Mala in those Sichuan chilies and peppercorns.

We got a plate of Sichuan Dumpling with Chili sauce for free as we dined in during their promotion hours from 2 to 5 pm. The dumplings looked so enticing and tasted out of the world. There was minced pork inside, and once bitten, it would flow out-coupling with the sauce from the outside, guarantee that you would want another piece!

Though the restaurant is small, it gives off a great ambiance and lively with soft music playing in the background, and it is also fun watching the busy chefs preparing for our food. We had a great time dining at Kungfu Kitchen, and we promise to be back as soon as possible to try more of their masterpieces!
