Try this extremely unique recipe to make Fried Chicken with Ambok, Cheese, and Corn!
We’re used to eating fast food fried chicken or Korean-style fried chicken, but now we have Khmer-style fried chicken with Ambok that is nothing like you’ve seen before. This recipe is made using our Khmer Ambok to create a new and unique dish. What’s even better is the incorporation of cheese and corn to bring this fried chicken dish to another level.
Ingredients:
Boiled water (half a bowl)
Soy sauce (2 tablespoons)
White sugar (1 tablespoons)
Chicken seasoning powder (1 tablespoons)
Minced garlic (1 tablespoons)
Pepper (half a tablespoon)
Green onions (2 tablespoons + extra for garnish)
Chicken meat (half a kilogram)
Tempura flour (1 plate)
Salt (a pinch)
Eggs (3 eggs)
Ambok (1 plate)
Vegetable oil
Butter (4 slices)
Cheese preferably Mozzarella (a bowl)
Cooked corn (for garnish)
Method:
1. First, we start with marinating our chicken meat. Slice the chicken into small portions and put them aside.
Mix boiled water, soy sauce, white sugar, garlic, green onions, and pepper together in a separate bowl. Make sure everything is well-mixed before adding in the chicken to the sauce.
Marinate the chicken for around 30 minutes.
2. After marinating the chicken, we can start prepping it to be fried. First, start by preparing all the ingredients. Sift through the Tempura flour to make sure there are no lumps. Add salt to the flour and mix well. Crack eggs into another bowl.
3. Take the marinated chicken and put it into the flour first. Second is in the eggs and finally cover it with the Ambok.
Onto deep-frying it. Make sure your vegetable oil is hot before putting in the chicken and deep-frying for around 2-3 minutes.
4. Spread butter on a pan. Add cheese all over. Top with the fried chicken. Bake the entire thing until the cheese has melted. Garnish with green onions and cooked corn.
This recipe is perfect for those wanting to try something new and exciting with their Ambok. Don’t forget to try it out.
