Steps on how to Eat Korean BBQ like a Local at the #1 Korean BBQ Chain “Seorae”

We recently saw the appearance of one particularly enticing BBQ shop on a Korean TV Show called “It’s Okay to Not be Okay” where Gang Tae and Moon Young savored a delicious meal perfect for two and that BBQ store is none other than Seorae! We have tried the fined quality meat product and got a few chances to review on the brand, refer to the link.

Seorae is the number one Korean BBQ chain from Korea serving authentic taste with fine quality meat products and perfectly grilled over charcoal to ensure taste and quality. Despite the taste itself, we have to know the steps and techniques to get the best flavor out of meat. Here is our advice for you to enjoy Korean BBQ at Seorae like your Unnie and Oppa:

Step 1: Lay the meats flat on the grill before veggies ensure that everything will finish cooking at about the same time. Use scissors to cut the meats into smaller pieces! This helps to cook it fast and easier to consume. Do not forget to wait for the gill to be hot enough!

Step 2: Know when to flip the meats, if there isn’t a server doing it for you. Look for “sweating “on the top of thicker meats such as Samgyeopsal and regularly check the underside of lighter cuts such as spicy pork or Gwangyang bulgogi for a slight char before flipping. If you are new to Korean BBQ and there’s a server make an offer to grill your meats, do not feel offended. It's best to let your sever operate the grill so you can learn the correct procedures for yourself.

Step 3: Add veggies after you have flipped the meats, watching for charring, if you order veggie for grilling. Veggies char easier than meats on the grill and will cook faster than meat too. Keep your veggies and meats separated as best as you can because you wouldn’t want the marinades mix with your veggies. It will lose the authentic flavor of the veggies.

Step 4: Do not forget to order Korean soup and dishes such as Korean rice ball, bibimbap, and Kimchi stew to enjoy when you are waiting for the meats to cook.

Step 5: Make the wrap! Dip the meat into your favorite sauce (either seorae soy sauce, white pepper with sesame oil or gochujang “red bean paste”). You can also add garlic or any side dishes inside the wrap. Use your hands to hold the lettuce wrap and eat it in one bite.

Final step: Have Soju or Makgeolli on your table during the feast to refresh your palette. They are the most popular drinks to have with Korean barbeque. Or you can also order a beer to go with your grilled meat. If you’re feeling adventurous, you can make Somek, which is soju and beer mixed together.

Tip: The grill burns out frequently so remember to replace it often.
