Mikawa Japanese Cuisine & Sky Bar provides is well-known for their must-try Charcoal Grilled Kushiyaki (skewered meat)! FoodBuzz have sampled 11 dishes and those clearly are what all the other Japanese restaurants aspire to be. Let’s start our food journey from the top and talk about their appetizers (hint: they are to die for)! The “Fresh Oysters” are certainly fresh as they come. They’re sweet, extremely tender and juicy with a hint of saltiness from the sea paired well with the sauce and fried garlic. Next up, the “Cheese Beef Uzuyaki” is an oddly satisfied combination of cheese and beef, and the “Kushiyaki” or commonly known as Japanese barbeque – is a skewered meat grilled over charcoal fire and seasoned with special sauce. Come up with various flavours, we highly recommend the “Inokimaki” but it’s for you to decide which one is best because they are all amazing and pack a punch of unique flavor.

For the main course, we got to try 3 astonishing dishes. The Rib Eye Steak isn’t exactly on the menu but we highly recommend this one. The charcoal grilled steak glazed with tar tar sauce is extremely tender and truly delicious as it’s cooked to perfection using high quality cut and impressive skill, plus it also comes with a flavorful Onigiri. There’s also an ongoing promotion for this dish, you can get 2 cuts of steak and a bottle of red wine for $ 59.90!

Another main course is the famous Tonkotsu Ramen served in a thick creamy and rich broth with Japanese Chashu (braised pork). The stretchy ramen and super rich broth is a heavenly combination you can’t get enough of. Then, the “Ton Katsu Curry” which is Japanese curry that is typically lighter in flavor compared to our traditional curry found in Cambodia. Try this unique curry topped with crispy Pork Katsu (Deep fried pork).

We even got to try 2 of their special Maki Mono (sushi roll). The Salmon Mentai Roll highlights and elevates the taste of salmon in a cool modern way while the Mekong Lobster Roll uses an entire lobster from the Mekong River to create one of the most sought-after dishes in the restaurant that is both pleasing for the palate and an eye-catching delicacy.

Moving on, let’s talk about their famous and recommended Lunch sets. Every Lunch set includes one Salmon Croquette, a Miso Soup, a side Salad and one main dish. The Sashimi Set focuses in the freshness of the sea with Salmon Sashimi and California roll with red fish roe that pops in your mouth creating a burst of that juiciness in the roll. The Mixed Tempura serves Japanese style assorted crispy and light tempura and comes with white rice.

Mikawa is also kid-friendly and offers Kids Meal Set. We have sampled their Set A which includes Spaghetti, crispy Fried Chicken, French Fries and assorted Fresh Fruits decorated in a super cute and kid-friendly style to make dining fun and interesting for them.
