Louisiana Famous Fried Chicken: A Fastfood Chain Popularized by Cambodian Immigrants Is Now In The Kingdom

Established in 1976, Louisiana Famous Fried Chicken is a fairly well-known fast food chain in the US, especially in Los Angeles area, and up until today, the chain has 148 stores running in 7 countries worldwide and just very recently launched their first location in the kingdom at Noro Mall, Phnom Penh.

An intriguing fun-fact about this famous fried chicken chain is that despite being founded by an American, 80% of the franchise stores are owned by Cambodian immigrants living in the US and the founder himself, Joe Dion, said in an interview with LA Times that a big reason behind the success is Cambodians. In 2017, Michael Eng a Cambodian immigrant took over as the chain owner and he has quite an interesting backstory of how he went from being a cleaning staff at one of the chain’s restaurants when he first came to America in 1992 to owning the chain today which you may read in details here.

Now that you know a little backstory of the chain, it’s time we tried the food!

Louisiana Famous Fried Chicken

Of course, our first pick was the well-loved fried chicken and we opted for the drumstick. Golden, crispy and deep-fried to perfection, the drum stick was juicy and flavored just right that we just simply couldn’t get enough of it.

Then we gladly savored some Lobster Roll which was another stand-out in the menu as this is not often seen (especially not at such a budget-friendly price point!). Freshly fleshed lobster meat served in a long bun finished with some sweet, spicy chili sauce, this is definitely not one to miss!

Last but not least, we had the Chicken Popcorn which is cooked with the same recipe as the aforementioned fried chicken so the taste is consistent but is served in boneless, smaller bites so if you’re looking for a quick bite without getting your fingers messy, this is the one.

Aside from these, Louisiana Famous Fried Chicken also serves other delicious bites and drinks so make sure to check it out and tell us what you love best from this chain!
