Chinese drama fans! Here’s where you can get the authentic Chinese Bread!

Crispy and savory yet spicy Chinese Bread! Most people who watch Chinese movies already know what we’re talking about, right? It appeared in almost every drama but where can we get these in Cambodia? Today, StreetBuzz is here to solve the problem!

There is one stall located around Koh Pich that sells these Chinese Bread or Naan. Thanks to its rising popularity online, the stall now sells out almost 400 to 500 pastries per day and the price ranges from $2 to $5, depending on the size of the pastry and the filling. What makes this stall special is the use of their traditional clay oven known as a tandoor as most vendors already switched to industrial ovens for convenience.

StreetBuzz had the chance to chitchat with the owner and asked them about the origin of their stall. Apparently, the recipe used to make the bread was passed down from their ancestors who used to have their own stall in Mainland China, the recipe itself is more than 80 years old! As of now, the owner has been in Cambodia for almost 4 to 5 years and they are almost fluent in Khmer.

The Chinese Breads were baked fresh for every order to ensure that it’s hot and crispy when eaten. The Chinese Bread is savory and spicy with the aromatic smell of Chinese spices. If it’s your first time, the aroma and the taste of the spices can be a little too strong, so make sure you buy one and share it with your friends. However, most regulars would have no problem chomping down two of those by themselves.

Other than the Chinese Bread, this stall also has other appertizing things such as: stinky tofu, tofu milk pudding with red bean and more!
