You may have been familiar with well-known roasted chicken with honey or coke, but how about the whole crispy chicken wrapped with savory deep-fried taro? The only place you must visit and try out this menu is Chamkar Trav, located about 10km away from Siem Reap center.

This farm-house-styled restaurant is best-known for their “Taro-wrapped Chicken”. Each bite is heavenly-tasty and crunchy. Do not forget to have it along with the fresh vegetables and dip with homemade Prahok.

Another popular dish here is “Taro Fritters”, you can get both sweetness and crispness at once. 

“Grille Prahok” is also a must-eat when being there. The signature taste comes from the combination of chopped pork and Prahok, which goes very well with the mixed vegetables. 

If you fish more, do not miss out on their “Grilled catfish with Kdarm Prai (Crab salad)”. You can either dip with the given young tamarind sauce or just the juice from Kdarm Prai. Both pairs taste yummy in a different way.

For the soup menu, we had tried “Banana blossom soup”. It comes with many popular ingredients of the countryside including crabs, snails, small fish. Get a bowl of steamy soup and you will surely ask for more.

You should also try “Banana flower salad”, with a very typical taste that can be hard to forget.

Just in case you crave some Khmer desserts, you will be surprised when you get some Candied Taro or Stirring Taro Desserts. It is not too sweet and truly aromatic with creamy coconut milk.

While waiting for the food or when you get bored, it is a pleasant feeling to have a walk around this cozy place for some fresh air or even many beautiful photos. But you must make a reservation in advance if you happen to go there on a weekend or holiday.
