Bliss Mart and Cafe: A mart that sells Malaysian ingredients and food products just around the area of Tuol Kork

One of my favorite things to do every time I visit a new country is to try out their instant noodles and snacks. It might sound weird or funny to some people, but when I visit a country for the first time, I spend a lot of time at their convenience store trying out different kinds of snacks. This time is a bit different as we are not visiting another country, but we visited a Malaysian café and mart that sells all different kinds of Malaysian groceries and snacks, Bliss Mart and Cafe

Maggi is a very common household brand in Malaysia. It is not a Malaysian brand, but it is so widely used in Malaysia that even some Malaysians mistake it as a Malaysian brand. Maggi instant noodles are one of the most popular Maggi products and they have many different localized flavors, like this one we tried, Maggi Asam Laksa

We tried 3 different types of instant noodles which are the Maggi Asam Laksa, MyKuali Penang White Curry, and the A1 Bak Kut Teh noodles.

The Maggi Asam Laksa doesn’t really taste like the actual one but it’s something different, mildly spicy and sour. Our favorite is definitely the MyKuali Penang White Curry. The broth is rich and it’s so aromatic and tasty. We would say it’s pretty close to the actual curry noodles. It is a hit among Malaysians as well with stocks flying off the shelves every time it is restocked. Lastly, the A1 Bak Kut Teh noodles are something different as well, with a strong herbal taste. Again, it doesn’t taste exactly like the actual Bak Kut Teh but close enough to satisfy some cravings. After trying all 3, the winner is definitely the MyKuali Penang White Curry! Worth every calorie gained.

Moving on, we selected some famous Malaysian snacks to try. The Pun Chun Original Biscuit is a sweet and savory chewy biscuit. The first bite tasted a bit weird but after a few more bites we actually started to like it a lot. There is also a crispy version of this chicken biscuit.

Next, we tried the Yee Hup Hiong Piah, a famous product from the city of Ipoh in Malaysia. It’s a flaky puff biscuit with sweet maltose filling. Available in individual packing, it’s definitely a good and convenient snack.

Lastly, we tried the Popo Muruku Ikan, a savory fish cracker snack. Comes in small serving-sized packets, the murukku ikan actually tastes kind of similar to the green pea snack. It comes in a few different flavors.

Bliss Café and Mart located in the Toul Kork area is no stranger to Malaysians living in Cambodia. Other than instant noodles and snacks, they also sell various Malaysian groceries from cooking pastes, chili sauce, herbal soup packs to Malaysian beverages. It is also a café that serves coffee, nasi lemak, curry mee, and other Malaysian delicacies.
