5 Most-go-to-places for Sour Fruits "M'ju" Lovers

Sour fruits (M’ju) are one of the common local snacks for Cambodian. People like having them with their family, friends, and colleagues, at anywhere and anytime. In case you’re asking, fruits that are considered as sour fruits are mango, guava, jicama, planchonella obovata, june plum, wood apple, and santol, etc.

 

There so many booths and shops that sell sour fruits these days, but the difference is mostly in their chili salt mixture. So, today’s article will show you 5 most-go-to-places for Mju lovers.

#1 Sathormuk Sour Fruit (M'ju Santhormuk)

 

Students of Sathormuk High School will definitely know this place, at the corner of the school, which is actually named Srey Pov but better known as “M'ju Santhormuk” due to its location. The store is full of all kinds of sour fruits both fresh and pickled. They offer 5 kinds of salt mixture, to go with the fruits, including shrimp paste (Kapik) and fish paste (Prohok). Yes, some people like them with Prohok.

#2 Sisowath Sour Fruit (M'ju Sisowath)

It does not matter where those buyers study, most people will just know this place called “M'ju Sisowath (High School)” because well, it is just that famous. They are popular for their many flavors of shrimp pastes, and their special sour and spicy pickled mangos.

 

And the fact that they store them inside the fridge makes those mangos even tastier and crunchier. Also, let’s not forget about their chilling sweet coconut juice, which is only 3000 riel each, to go with those tasty sour treats!

#3 Bak Touk Sour Fruits (M'ju Bak Touk/M'ju Mak Ah Mey)

 

There are several sour fruit booths around Bak Touk High School area, but one that stands out the most is “Mju Mak Ah Mey”, which is in the opposite of the high school around the corner. This place is favored for their pickled yet super crunchy and tasty guava, especially with their chili shrimp and salt mixture. Don’t miss out this place!

#4 Vanda Sour Fruits (M'ju Vanda)

 

“M'ju Vanda” is just behind AIS at the corner. They sell just about any kind of sour fruits. Plus, they also sell steamed river snails, which not to mention, are really famous among local teens! However, the only problem is their lack of concern in terms of hygiene. But if that doesn’t bother you much, why not give it a try maybe?

#5 Wat Phnom Sour Fruits (M'ju Wat Phnom)

Though this shop isn’t in high school area like the rest that were mentioned above, this place definitely serves a place in the top 5 due to customers’ reviews and preference. They’re located near Wat Phnom roundabout, close to Casa Casino.

They gained their reputation for their “one of a kind” fruits such as pickled santol and many more, which rarely can be found at other places. They also have about 6 or 7 kinds of chili salt mixtures for you to choose!
