Phnom Penh has no shortage of eateries especially with new ones popping up all the time. However, the FoodBuzz Team can say that this new restaurant is probably one that you’ve never seen before because they are the first 2D concept restaurant in Cambodia​ that has servers cosplayed in Japanese Anime maid costumes! 

The illusion starts from the moment you arrive at the restaurant. The restaurant’s exterior is a stark black-and-white making it stand out against the colorful world around it. Once we enter, it gets even more amazing!

The 2D concept is done in great detail without missing any corner and this includes the tables, chairs, sofas, walls, and tiled floors, too. Although the concept has been done in other countries, what sets 2D Cambodia apart is the drawings on the walls showcasing Khmer ornamental art styles and famous locations across Cambodia. With such beautiful designs, it’s no wonder that they attracted a lot of support despite having opened only recently.  

There are many great qualities about 2D Cambodia, but one thing that customers usually remark on is the friendly staff, fast service, and large portions that suit the price point. 

The food at 2D Cambodia focuses mainly on Asian cuisine especially Cambodian and Chinese cuisines. The FoodBuzz Team wants to recommend trying the Pumpkin with Prawn Soup, Char Siu and Chinese Steamed Chicken with Rice, and the Fried Ground Meat Thai Style with Rice that come with two meat options (chicken or pork).

The Deep Fried Salmon Fins are extremely crispy with fried bits of garlic that adds another layer of rich flavor. Other than this, there’s also Chinese Steamed Chicken with Scallion which is suitable to be eaten with some rice and the soy sauce based sauce from the chicken.

There’s also Spaghetti Bolognese, decorated with an egg and some cheese. The signature dish of the restaurant is their Volcano Ribs. The ribs are gigantic and bathed in a sour and spicy sauce of green chili. The tender meat plus the addicting sauce is sure to have you coming back for more!

Let’s move on to the desserts! They have pancakes shaped like cartoons alongside some fresh fruit. You can eat it with some chocolate sauce or condensed milk. What is really special is their 3 Color Shaved Ice that is topped with a cloud of cotton candy.
